THURSDAYS AT 11.35PM FOR TEN WEEKS FROM 16TH SEPTEMBER 2004, EXCLUSIVELY ON SCI-FI.

Don’t miss Fiona Horne as she extemporizes her Craft in the exclusive UK television premiere of what might be the world’s most unusual reality TV show – MAD MAD HOUSE. Originally commissioned by SCI FI in the US, the show polarised opinion in The States, angering – amongst others – religious groups and animal rights protesters whilst almost doubling the channel’s ratings for its slot.

What makes this reality TV show so different from all the others? Although the reality concept is nothing new, MAD MAD HOUSE is the first to deliberately test the limits of tolerance and the boundaries of belief.

Mad Mad HouseTen unsuspecting contestants arrive at the MAD MAD HOUSE hoping to become the winner of a $100,000 jackpot, and are stunned to find that the five hosts they will be living with for the next ten weeks look like they have stepped out of a horror movie. Called ‘The Alts’ (as in ‘alternative’), there’s a witch, a real-life vampire, an Orisa voodoo priestess, a naturist and a ‘modern primitive’ - who likes to hang himself from skin hooks.

The hosts promise to reward the contestant who displays the greatest personal development and acceptance of their alternative lifestyles. To judge this, the contestants compete against each other in a series of trials. Will the contestants perform everything asked of them to avoid being voted out?

The motley crew of contestants include, amongst others, a Monica Lewinsky look-a-like virgin who lives in a convent, a middle aged mother, a stripper, two fanatical Christians, a devout Jehovah Witness and an ex-beauty queen.

Tempers flare, tears are shed, and feelings are hurt as willpower and faith are tested to the limits. If the back-biting among the contestants doesn’t entice you, then watch as The Alts lock horns over who should be evicted, and who deserves to stay.

Still, barneys and breakdowns are the least of the contestants worries in this totally compulsive show. With their mettle tested week after week, how many of these ‘normal’ individuals will still be sane at the end of their stay in the MAD MAD HOUSE? The answer will unfold on SCI FI over the next ten weeks.
