Interview with Holly G, Writer and Comic Artist
September 2005

Georgia of For The Witch In You interviewed Holly Golightly, the creator of Vampfire and School Bites! She wrote/penciled Sabrina, Josie and the Pussycats, as well as Cosmo Girl. She's also the colourist of Tarot, in which Georgia has made guest appearances as a character. The following is an email interview conducted in August 2005.

Holly G, Comic ArtistFTWIY:How long have you been a comic artist and what made you decide to become one?

HOLLY G : For 11 years I believe. I started as a teacher, went into the fashion industry, children's entertainment and cake decorating...but then followed my Bliss and did what I’d wanted to do since I was 15 and followed my vocation as an artist.

FTWIY: What are your artistic influences, if any?

HOLLY G: Frank Thorne, Frazetta, Olivia, Bestey Johnson, all British 80s New Wave
Punk and groovy music and of course, Jim Balent!

FTWIY:
Where did the idea for School Bites! originate from?

HOLLY G: I'm a huge HP fan and loove vampires AND I did go to British school;
pepper that with my college experiences and that equals School Bites!

FTWIY: Can you tell us the history behind the characters in School Bites!?

HOLLY G: You'll just have to read it 'cause some of their pasts are still clad in mystery!

FTWIY: In what way does the craft help you day to day in your work?

HOLLY G: Magick is about taking the imagination and personal energy and having it appear on this plane (and sometimes others). Everything I create is a Magickal process. Oh, and I love to use Colour Magick when I colour my book.

FTWIY: Which character now or in the past have you most enjoyed drawing?

HOLLY G: I love drawing - If it's from my heart - I love it - if I'm being forced against what I feel is right - ARGH!

FTWIY: If you where a comic character, what would be your name and super power and why?

HOLLY G: Gee I'd probably be my Character Cherri Creeper and possess immortality - I could draw an awful lot then

FTWIY: What are your artistic plans for the future?

HOLLY G: To draw very cute, fun, sexy, yummy and colourful things!

FTWIY: Where can our British readers purchase the School Bites! comic and the other great titles and merchandise you have to offer?

HOLLY G: www.jimbalent.com or www.cryptchick.com Also bug your local comic book stores...they can get them through Diamond Dist.
